Julie Morrison has been a strong advocate for protecting the natural resources that define Illinois’ 29th Senate District. Representing communities along Lake Michigan and throughout the North Shore, Morrison has championed efforts to improve water quality, reduce plastic pollution, and safeguard the environment for future generations. 

A few of her legislative achievements include:

• Passing historic legislation to ban the use of PFAs (known as forever chemicals) from a number of products like cosmetics, dental floss, intimate apparel, and juvenile products (products made for children 12 and under)

• Requiring state-owned buildings have bird-friendly designs to prevent birds deaths

• Preventing plastic pollution at our state parks by contracting with vendors who use recyclable or compostable foodware

• Directed the Illinois EPA to study microplastics and create rules to prevent plastic pellets from entering our water supply

• Ensuring the state have clear, recognizable symbols for recycling and composting
